Well after spending a day in the blazing sun filming technology tests, it was determined that we won’t be able to acheive the film we want until we can get a better camera. For general filming, my family’s little camcorder did ok(quality wasn’t good, but it was bearable). But for greenscreen, or any other effects work, the quality was just pathetic. To do effects properly, your video quality must be good enough to allow a computer to analyze it thoroughly, and the grainy, compressed footage we had caused the effects software to go haywire. We had fun messing with it, though. We may even come back to the project again when we have $3000 to drop on a new camera. If you were really wanting to see the movie, donations are welcome! … just a thought.

In my endless amount of free time(yeah right), my brother, cousins, and myself have decided to try our hand at movie making. Now, as four guys growing up together, we’ve had this idea a few times before, with varying degrees of failure, so we know what to expect. It probably won’t end up going anywhere. But all the same it should be a pretty fun endeavor. The neat thing about this iteration of movie making is that my older cousin and myself have actually learned a thing or two about how the post-production side of the movie business works over the past couple of years. So this could turn out to be a nice chance for us to play with some of the technology we’ve learned about and actually gain some experience using it(You never know when Steven Spielberg might call you up!). Inevitably , our creativity will outrun our budget and our blockbuster will die there. But until then, I’m sure we’ll have some fun making parodies of Indiana Jones… yikes! did I say that out loud?!

Stay tuned…
